Priorities for Our Schools
In the next term, Sakawdin aims to build on the progress we’ve made together and push even further. He is committed to:
1) Upholding and Advancing Our Commitment to Educational Excellence

Our district is high-achieving school district with a record of outstanding achievement both in and out of the classroom. This success is a testament to our dedicated students, teachers, and leaders. Sakawdin is committed to working tirelessly to sustain and enhance this. As experienced public finance professional, Sakawdin has the experience in approving funds and serving board for high-impact educational grants and programs in our state, and he is well-prepared to advocate for out district towards even greater accomplishments.

Sakawdin will work hard to help advance our districts efforts in securing adequate funding to address raising cost, inflation and critical district needs such as:
-
Expanding student support — mental health resources that help every child thrive academically and emotionally. Advocate for increasing mental health support staff (counselors, social workers, psychologists, nurses) and securing adequate funding.
2) Continue to bring parent voice, put students first and support for our educators
Strengthening communication will be a major commitment— making it easier for parents, students, and teachers to be heard and for their feedback to shape our decisions. Sakawdin will continue to be parent voice at the school board with 2 children in the school district and 1 upcoming kindergartener in the district as well as 3 Eagan High School graduates who are now in college. Sakawdin understands importance of having parent voices at the table involved in the decisions that impact our students and parents.

Also, as a lifelong learner and offspring of schoolteacher/ administrator, Sakawdin understands the importance of our teachers and investment in our classrooms. He will put our educators first and ensure that they are taken care of, so they can take care our students.
We are all product of teachers one way or another. We need to support our educators, so they can support our students. We all had teachers at one point in our lives. We are as good and as educated as our teachers, the quality and the support our teachers get matters. Sakawdin will commit in teacher satisfaction, appreciation, success and development.
3) Help improve equity in our education delivery for all our students and support our staff equitably
For a longtime, our district made a priority in supporting programs to increase teacher and staff diversity. Sakawdin will continue to advocate and promote district initiatives aimed at increasing the representation of teachers and staff of color in all our schools and teacher preparation programs to better reflect the student population they serve. Sakawdin has been community advocate and a bridge builder. He will build trust between all district members, and parents especially those new to our community. He will commit and ensure district’s educational equity and support its implementation, so all students and staff have equitable access to all opportunities that our district offers.
